Snooze an email
Make an email disappear from your inbox and bring it back to the top when you choose — this evening, tomorrow or any date.
On this page
Snooze puts an email on hold: it leaves your inbox and comes back to the top at the time you choose, like a new message. Perfect for things you can’t handle right now.
Snooze an email
- Select or open the message.
- Choose Snooze: the H key on desktop, Message → Snooze… menu, the message menu, or a swipe to the right on mobile (default setting).
- Pick a time.
| Option | Comes back |
|---|---|
| Later today | In about 3 hours, on the hour (offered until late afternoon) |
| This evening | At 7 pm (offered before 5 pm) |
| Tomorrow | Tomorrow at 8 am |
| This weekend | Saturday at 9 am (offered Monday to Thursday) |
| Next week | Monday at 8 am |
| Pick a date… | Any date and time you like |
Times follow your device’s clock. The exact return time is shown next to each option.
Find snoozed emails
All your snoozed emails are in the Snoozed view in the sidebar (or All Snoozed across all your accounts). Each one shows “Snoozed until…”.
When the time comes, the email returns to the top of your inbox and you get a “Reminder: email subject” notification. It works even if your computer is off: the Heron server takes care of it.
Bring an email back early
Open it in Snoozed and choose Move back to inbox. You can also snooze it again to change the time.
Good to know: want to file an email with no return date? Use Set Aside. And to be told when nobody replies, see no-reply reminders.
