Inbox
Pin, set aside, mark as done
Three gestures to keep what matters in sight, file things away without forgetting them and clear your inbox in one click.
On this page
Besides archiving or flagging a message, Heron offers three gestures to organize your inbox.
| Gesture | What it does | Shortcut (desktop) |
|---|---|---|
| Pin | Keeps the message at the top of the inbox | P |
| Set Aside | Takes the message out of the inbox, with no return date | S |
| Mark as Done | Marks as read and archives, in one step | D |
You’ll also find them in the Message menu (desktop), a message’s menu (right-click or More Actions) and among the swipe actions.
Pin
A pinned message stays in the Pinned section at the top of the inbox until you unpin it. It also appears in the Pinned view in the sidebar, even if you move it to another folder.
To remove it: Unpin (or P again).
Good to know: pinning is different from Flag. Pins are kept by Heron and synced across all your devices, but they don’t show up in other mail apps.
Set aside
Handy for an email you’ll deal with “someday”, without a specific date. The message leaves the inbox and goes to a Set Aside folder in its account, created the first time you use it. You’ll find it in the Set Aside view in the sidebar.
To bring it back: open it and choose Return to Inbox.
Because it’s a real folder on your mail server, you’ll see it in your other mail apps too.
Need it to come back on its own at a specific time? Use Snooze instead.
Mark as done
Mark as Done marks the message as read and archives it in one go. A single Undo reverts both.
Undo
After each of these gestures, a notice at the bottom of the screen offers Undo. On desktop, ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows and Linux) works too.
