Search your email
Search all your accounts at once and narrow down with filters or keyboard syntax (from:, has:attachment, after:…).
On this page
Heron searches all your accounts at once: subject, sender, recipients and content. Then narrow it down with filters, using the mouse or the keyboard.
Start a search
- On desktop: click the Search field at the top of the list, or press ⌘F (Ctrl+F on Windows and Linux). Type your words and press Enter. Esc clears the search.
- On mobile: use the search field at the top of the message list (on iPhone, scroll the list down if it’s hidden). On iPad with a keyboard, ⌥⌘F.
Put a phrase in quotes to search for it exactly: "signed quote".
Filters
Open Search filters (desktop) or Filters (mobile) to choose without typing: sender, recipient, subject, has attachment, unread or read, flagged, date range, folder and account. Each filter becomes a chip above the results; click its cross to remove it.
Keyboard syntax
You can also type filters straight into the field. They can be combined.

A contact’s card
Click a sender’s name in a message to open their card: Their emails, Emails I sent and Attachments received, in one click.
Good to know: the same syntax works with AI agents and the
heronCLI.
