Notifications

Mobile notifications

Turn on notifications on iPhone, iPad or Android, choose which accounts notify you and reply straight from the notification.

On this page

On iPhone, iPad and Android, Heron sends you a notification when a new message arrives, even when the app is closed.

Allow notifications

On first launch, the Heron tour offers Turn on notifications: accept the system prompt.

Said no? In Heron, open Settings → On This Device → Notifications & Display. If notifications are turned off by the system, tap Open System Settings and allow Heron.

Choose which accounts notify you

In Settings → On This Device → Notifications & Display:

  • Notifications on This Device turns all Heron notifications on this phone or tablet off or back on;
  • for each account, Notifications decides whether it notifies you here, and In All Inboxes whether it shows up in the unified inbox.

These settings belong to this device and are not synced: your work phone can notify only your work accounts and stay quiet for the rest. Accounts added later are notified by default.

Act from the notification

Long-press a notification (or expand it on Android) to see its actions:

  • Reply: type your answer right there, without opening the app;
  • Archive;
  • Mark as Read;
  • Delete.

On iPhone, Reply and Delete require unlocking the device.

When an AI agent wants to send an email, the notification offers Approve and Reject.

Good to know: to only get alerts for emails written by people, turn on Badges and alerts: people only. And if a notification doesn’t show up, also check Focus modes (iPhone) or Do Not Disturb (Android).
